The Funahashi Times No.42 私の大好きなもの・・・立山連邦の景色

Hello there!

One of my favorite things about going to school every day is the view of the Tateyama Mountains. Look at these pictures. The picture with the blue sky was taken after school last Friday. I took it just before going to the library. I took the other one on my first day of work in Funahashi Village just before going to school about 2 years ago. I showed these pictures to my friends and family in Philippines. They loved the view too. They said it made them want to come to Japan. Mt. Tate is not as famous as Mt. Fuji or Mt. Everest abroad, but for me it is one of the most beautiful scenery in the world. It makes me excited to get up and drive to school every morning.

The Funahashi Times No.41 バレンタインデーの祝い方 フィリピンでは?

Hello there!

Last Sunday, many people around the world celebrated Valentine’s Day. It’s an event celebrated in different countries around the world. Each country has its own way of celebrating. In Japan, girls usually give boys chocolate, but in Philippines, boys give girls chocolate. They also give flowers, balloons, love letters, stuff toys, and other gifts. Other schools in Philippines even have Valentine’s Day programs. Students put up booths. They sell flowers, chocolates, and other stuff. Many students bring their guitars and sing love songs in front of the classroom. It’s really fun and lively!

The Funahashi Times No.40 チェスの楽しみ

Hello there!

My older brother taught me chess when I was young. I stopped playing for many years because I always lost to him. I didn’t enjoy it. Last vacation I started playing again because I got bored. I usually play with strangers on the internet, but I sometimes play with my brothers and cousins too. I still lose a lot of games, but I think I’m getting better. I enjoy it now. I get to spend with my brothers and cousins too because of chess. Now, I realize that chess and other board games are not only about winning. It’s also about being patient and making yourself better. It’s about spending time with your family and friends too.

授業の様子

再び雪が積もり、寒さが厳しい1日となりました。

その中でも活発に動き回る生徒の姿から元気をもらっています。

The Funahashi Times No.39 お勧めの本「すばらしき父さん狐」ロアルド・ダール

Hello there!

I’m going to introduce a book again today. Its title is “Fantastic Mr. Fox” by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl is one of the most famous children’s book writers in the world. His other famous books are “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Matilda”, “The BFG”, and so on. “Fantastic Mr. Fox” is about Mr. Fox, a very smart fox who steals food from bad farmers. The farmers try to catch him one day, but Mr. Fox was just too smart for them. This book is about never giving up. It’s about using our minds and being creative. It teaches that we can turn bad things into good things if we think hard and never give up. I think you’ll love this book.

The Funahashi Times No.38 お勧めの本「ギヴァー記憶を注ぐ者 ロイス・ローリー」

Hello there!

I want to introduce another book today. Its title is “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. I read this book when I was in college, and I enjoyed it. It’s a good and famous book. It’s about a boy named Jonas. Jonas grew up in a very special town with special rules. People in the town don’t want to remember both good and bad memories. The people in the town wanted everyone to act and think the same like robots. In the story, Jonas learned that everyone is unique, and we must enjoy it. He also learned that both good and bad memories are important in life. This book is a little difficult to read, but I think you’ll like it.
