Hello, hi, hey, yow, what’s up, greetings, and salutations, have you heard these words before? These words are different ways to greet people in English. Hello and hi are the most normal. You can use them anytime with anyone. Hey, yow, and what’s up are usually used with friends. Some people use them at work too to be more friendly. It’s sometimes ok, just be careful. It sounds rude sometimes. You can’t use them in formal letters and emails. It’s also not ok to use them to your boss. Greetings and salutations are only used when we write formal letters, emails, and speeches. There are still many other ways to greet in English. How about in Japanese?
